Neal Petersen, our keynote speaker at 5:30 pm, brought a global perspective with a personal connection to Thrive in Joy as this year’s keynote speaker. Neal has indeed sailed the seven seas and is no ordinary skipper. He is a history-making yachtsman having raced solo around the world, to become a global investor, internationally acclaimed keynote speaker, and award-winning author known for delivering thought-provoking messages based on his life story which captivates and engages audiences. This seasoned explorer drew his strength and inspiration from a myriad of extraordinary life events to achieve his dream – an astonishing yacht race of 27,000 miles around the world, nine months – alone, in the smallest yacht he designed and constructed himself.
Hear how Neal connected with Nick and the journey of Neal’s life which continues to inspire audiences around the world.

Each year since Nick left us on July 27, 2014, we gather on the last Monday in July for the Annual Thrive in Joy Celebration of Life at Venice Beach where Driftwood Street ends at Oceanfront Walk.
Every year the Celebration of Life remembers not only when Nick left us, but also the lives of others who have left us too soon. We know these loved ones live on in the hearts of their family and friends every day. We gather with all who knew and loved Nick along with others who have experienced the loss of a young loved one. It is a day to remember the joy that these special young people have brought into our lives and to look to them to find a purpose within our own lives that will honor what they meant to us. We also want this day to be one of celebrating the milestones of those who carry on the memories. To recognize engagements, marriages, babies, special anniversaries and also remembering of those who have lived full, long lives and joined their loved ones in heaven this past year. The theme for the day is to remind ourselves that every day is precious.
If you have a young family member or friend who has passed and you would like to include them in the tribute pavilion, you can use the example below to submit your collage that will look like the ones you see if the photo above. You are invited to provide text as well as a photo of a symbol that you associate with your loved one like the rainbow that always connects us to Nick . Also, please send a jpeg of a favorite portrait-style photo that can go on the other side of the collage. With your supplied digital collage and portrait photo we'll create a 2-sided 11" x 17" tribute. Each loved one will have their own tribute hanging inside of the celebration of life pavilion creating a mobile of love that remembers each precious life and the memory that is eternally present. Please email your digital collage and full photo plus name of your loved one/friend, their date of birth and date of passing and their full name to: firstname.lastname@example.org. To defray the cost of the tributes, you can make a suggested donation of $25 by clicking the donate button on the bottom of this page. Or you can send your donation in the mail to: Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation, 849 S. Broadway #810, Los Angeles, CA 90014. Collage submissions can be emailed at any time before June 15, 2019. If you have any questions you can email or call Mary at 213.220.4686.
