PLAYERS OF ALL AGES WILL TAKE THE FIELD at Notre Dame High School’s fabulous Marines Memorial Stadium for the second annual Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation day at the ballpark. For junior players 7-10 and 12-13 years-old there will be clinics led by top high school baseball coaches and former college baseball players. Kids and parents can experience what it takes to be a player at the highest competitive level. Clinics will give players tips on how to improve their skills… while having lots of fun at the same time! A home run derby will give even the little guys..and gals…a chance to show their might and then we’ll open it up to a hitting extravaganza where the big hitters will find out if their bats have what it takes to get over the fence!
All experienced players (must be playing/ have played at the high school varsity/college level) can sign up to play in a 7-inning baseball game and we’ll finish the day with a co-ed soft-ball game open to anyone 18-80!
Chefs Jay Fagnano and Jay Winters have established the Notre Dame Knights concession stand as the best food in high school baseball. With your admission ticket you’ll get a hot dog, chips and unlimited beverages. Or go for the deluxe meal and make it a pulled pork sandwich with homemade cole slaw paired with an artisan chocolate chip ice cream sandwich for dessert!
The silent auction will have an array of exceptional items, experiences and services!
THRIVE IN JOY NICK FAGNANO FOUNDATION
The Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation was established by Mary & Jay Fagnano in memory of their son, Nick. The mission statement of the foundation is “Encouraging and rewarding character through education & recreation.” Nick was 20-years old when he was killed by a freak lightning strike at Venice Beach on July 27th, 2014. Nick’s vast network of friends extends all the way from preschool to college. Baseball was a passion of Nick’s and many of his friends had a connection to Nick through his love for the game whether they played on a team together, cheered him on, or joined him cheering on his fellow teammates at Wilshire Baseball, City of Angels, Notre Dame High School, or Santa Barbara City College.
This First Annual Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation Baseball Extravaganza will carry on Nick’s love for baseball and raise funds to support the foundation’s charitable endeavors: Tia Tatiana School and the Remar Orphanage in the Dominican Republic, The Los Angeles Chapter of the Jefferson Awards Students in Action Community Service Program, the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy Nick Fagnano Memorial Scholarship, The Notre Dame High School Senior Baseball Player Award for Outstanding Character, and the St. Brendan Grade School Graduation Award for Outstanding Character.
June 18th is guaranteed to be fun in the stands and fun on the field for everyone! Clinics for players and little league coaches will provide invaluable insights from professional baseball coaches who have trained athletes now playing in the major leagues.
The baseball game will be capped at 40 players, split into 2 teams and the softball game will be capped at 50 players-25 per team. So be sure to register now to get into the draft!
